David Stoevelaar

David is of Maori decent stemming from Ngati Porou, Hicks Bay and grew up in Hamilton.

He has a bachelor of Physical Education and Health with Biology and a postgraduate Diploma in Secondary School teaching. While working as a Secondary School teacher, being HOD and 2IC/joint Assistant Principal of the Senior School Department, he developed an interest in policies and procedures which led him to complete a law degree at Waikato University. 

During his time at University he became involved with sports coaching and mentoring and completed the requirements to be a mediator. David is a member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand and an approved Farm Debt Mediator including Tikanga Farm Debt Mediation. David was admitted to the bar in July 2018.
