FairWay thinks Pillars deserve the royal treatment
We were delighted to see that Pillars, a partner of FairWay's Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) service, received a gift from the New Zealand Government on the occasion of the marriage of Prince Harry and Ms Megan Markle this weekend.
“Pillars is a very deserving charity. They do lots of work to support children of prisoners in New Zealand and help prevent the cycle of inter-generational offending. We know that any donation will make a huge difference in the lives of children with parents in prison,” said Keri Morris, Client Director at FairWay.
On any given day more than 23,000 children are affected by having a parent in prison in New Zealand. Without the right support these children are over 9 x more likely than other kiwi kids to end up in prison as adults.
FairWay’s Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) service provides mediation services, even if a parent is in prison. We have worked with the Department of Corrections and Pillars to set up a service and help provide a connection for children of prisoners.
“We would encourage any New Zealand organisations looking to mark the royal wedding to consider their own donation to Pillars. It is quick and easy to make a donation online, and a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children who really need your support,” said Keri.
