Land Acquisition Resolution Service
Is your land or property being acquired by Waka Kotahi under the Public Works Act 1981?
Land Acquisition Resolution Service (LARS) is a free and independent mediation service to help landowners and the Crown quickly reach agreements during the acquisition process.
Mediation is a safe place for you to ask questions and share your perspective with the Crown’s representatives, to learn about the project and explore options together. LARS empowers you and the Crown to navigate these conversations with the support of an independent skilled mediator, so you can reach agreement together.
Why mediate?
Mediation creates a safe environment for landowners to ask questions, to have constructive conversations with representatives for the Crown, and work through any disagreements around compensation or other matters.
Mediation allows you to explore options and reach an agreement together. It helps avoid extended discussions or proceedings at the Land Valuation Tribunal.
Fair Way are experts in dispute resolution. You can choose a mediator from Fair Way’s panel of experienced mediators who are neutral and independent of the Crown and its representatives.
This service is free for landowners impacted by projects that form part of the New Zealand Upgrade Programme.
