Anna is a Registered Social Worker with extensive experience working alongside tamariki, young people, families and whānau across a range of complex and sensitive circumstances. Her previous roles as a Social Worker in schools and Mana Ake Practice Lead have strengthened her ability to engage meaningfully with children and young people, build trusting relationships, and working alongside whānau to support positive outcomes.

Anna’s practice is grounded in a child-centred and relationship-based approach, with a strong focus on creating safe, respectful and supportive environments where tamariki feel comfortable to share their experiences and have their views genuinely heard and valued.

Currently working in private practice as a Clinical Supervisor and Family Court Counsellor, Anna is passionate about supporting frontline practitioners to engage in meaningful reflection and strengthen their practice. She is equally committed to supporting whānau to reflect on their circumstances, navigate challenges and make informed decisions that promote the wellbeing and best interests of their tamariki.

Anna recognises that children’s views and experiences can be influenced by complex family dynamics, including loyalty conflicts, grief, stress and exposure to trauma. Her practice is therefore grounded in creating a safe, neutral and supportive environment where tamariki feel able to express themselves openly, in ways that are appropriate to their age and stage of development, and without pressure or influence.

She places strong emphasis on listening beyond the words being spoken, remaining attuned to both verbal and non-verbal communication, and understanding each child’s perspective within the context of their individual lived experience. Anna takes care to ensure that tamariki voices are heard authentically and respectfully, while considering the broader circumstances that may be influencing their experiences and views.

Anna is a proud mum of two and values spending quality time with her whānau. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys being outdoors, spending time in her garden, and making the most of the sunshine.
