Cherie Hainsworth-Powrie is a Barrister, Solicitor, and Mediator based in South Auckland and Franklin, and is Principal of her law practice. She has 30 years legal and mediation experience.
Cherie has specialist expertise in family law, relationship property, employment relations, civil and criminal litigation, adjudication and arbitration, and sports/incorporated societies, and a passion for assisting parties in disputes move forward. She trained with LEADR in the early 1990’s, is on the NZLS Panel of Mediators, and is an FDR approved Mediator. Her experience includes adjudicating ACC appeals, and in her private practice mediating and arbitrating various fields of disputes. She is an experienced lawyer appearing as counsel and representing clients in NZ courts (litigation), presenter (including at NZLS training programmes) and facilitator (including for sporting and community organisations) alongside her mediation, arbitration and adjudication work.
Cherie has strong legal, advocacy, and life experience to rely on; and has a natural flair and passion for mediation using analytical skills and brainstorming to assist parties. She has a deep understanding of the dynamics of family mediation, encompassing cultural, religious and other foundations upon which viewpoints are sometimes based. She aspires to help separating parents, employers and employees in house, businesses, sports teams, groups, and others to resolve family and relationship disputes, trusts and estates, property, construction, and business differences; even where all hope is seen to already be lost.
