Ella is a barrister at Kate Sheppard Chambers. She provides specialist legal advice, conducts independent investigations, and helps clients to resolve disputes through negotiation and litigation. Ella has particular experience working in sensitive subject areas including discrimination, sexual harassment, abuse, and interference with privacy.
She is an experienced investigator. She often works with people who have experienced traumatic events, and brings a sensitive and trauma-informed approach to her work.
Ella began her career working in private practice, specialising in employment law, before moving to the public sector. Most recently before joining the independent bar, Ella held senior investigative roles at the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, and a senior litigation role at the Office of Human Rights Proceedings. She is a current panel member of the Human Rights Review Tribunal.
