Glynette has been a social worker for 20 years. She has worked with families, couples, individuals and children, in many settings and supporting with a variety of concerns. She has spent most of her career working in the community but has recently spent a few years working in a government role -a lot of new learning. Glynette is available as a voice of child practitioner. She is particularly interested in working in the family and parenting space.
Glynette believes every child (age and development appropriate) should have a voice as to their thoughts and feelings about what is happening between their parents or caregivers. Obviously, this does not mean they make adult decisions, but the hope is the adults factor these voices into their decision making and actions to ensure the best outcome for all family members. She works from a place of transparency, authenticity and connection with the children. Quickly forming a working relationship with the child(ren) and then using an ecological lens to explore current situations and hopes for their future.
Glynette has raised 5 children and now enjoys her grandchildren. She is an avid vegetable gardener, gym and dance class “goer”, and crazy animal lover. She is proud of her work in the community as a social worker, family therapist, educator and advocate for those who have experienced loss and trauma, violence and abuse or need an extra bit of help to support their dreams and aspirations. Particularly, her work in the family violence space, with both victims and people who use violence has been extensive and rewarding. Glynette has a good understanding of and respect for Te Ao Māori worldview and Matauranga Māori concepts
