Jaenine is an experienced disputes resolution practitioner. She has worked in reputable firms in Dunedin and Wellington, and is now the director of Empower Law Ltd, where she specialises in Employment Law.
Jaenine’s approach to disputes resolution starts with understanding each person’s perspective and experience of the problem. She helps parties in a dispute to articulate their concerns, goals and needs. Jaenine believes sharing information helps parties to be empathetic and more creative with solutions. Jaenine can help parties come up with, and record, robust and comprehensive settlement agreements.
Jaenine is an experienced advocate who has appeared in courts, tribunals, professional regulatory hearings and mediations. Her background in litigation give her an edge when it comes to investigative work too. She is well-versed on the requirements of natural justice and the rules of evidence. She is accustomed to interviewing individuals from diverse backgrounds including in relation to sensitive matters. She has a keen eye for detail which is fundamental to how she weighs evidence, assesses credibility and records her findings.
Jaenine is a member of the Employment Law Committee, Employment Law Institute of New Zealand, and she volunteers at the Wellington and Lower Hutt Community Law Centres. She is passionate about the law and social justice.
In her spare time Jaenine enjoys the outdoors: skiing, tramping, mountain-biking and travel. She is also an avid reader and lover of music.
