I have been practicing as a lawyer since 1996, primarily in the area of Family Law. Prior to practising law, I worked for some five years as a Family Court Coordinator (based in Hamilton). I have been a member of the NZLS Panel of Mediators since April 2010 and as a mediator for Family Dispute Resolution since the law changes of 2014.
I have always held an interest in alternative dispute resolution processes and a belief that with suitable information, support and assistance, many people are able to make their own decisions about the parenting arrangements for their children; and that those decisions are likely to be more appropriate and enduring for them and their families.
I have participated in numerous mediations in my 27 plus years as a Family Lawyer in my capacity as Lawyer for the Children, acting for parties, Court appointed mediator and more recently as a FDR mediator and Voice of Child Specialist.
I have mediated family disputes involving (but not limited to) care and contact arrangements, guardianship disputes (schooling, health, travel overseas etc), domestic violence, multi-generational, cross-cultural issues, relocation, reluctant children, mental health issues and care and protection matters.
