Naomi Vinac - Fair Way

Naomi Vinac

Bachelor Of Social Work; SWRB

Voice of Child
  • Family
  • Northland | Te Tai Tokerau

In Naomi's role as Voice of Child, her approach is child-focused and relaxed where possible. She likes to provide a safe and fun environment where the child feels open to talking and sharing with me.

She is a registered social worker with SWRB and has been a part of the social work environment for over 10 years. She has experience working with whai ora, rangatahi, mokopuna and whanau through her community roles, as a Social Worker in Schools and in Oranga Tamariki.

Naomi recognises that children can find it difficult to express themselves and their emotions so utilises techniques from play therapy to engage at their level. She believes it is important the child's voice is heard and understood so that those around them can support their needs and provide a safe environment.

Naomi uses a child-focused approach and utiilises Te Whare Tapa Wha for a holistic lens. Naomi understands that this model addresses not only the child but also identifies where wraparound supports are needed with in their environment.

A favourite career highlight so far was helping a mama who was addicted to methamphetamine attend a recovery programme and have a successful outcome. She says she does this
work because she likes to advocate for those that are vulnerable to Iosing their identity or goaIs simply because their voice has been lost in the process of life's challenges.
