Nicola’s experience in family issues is extensive. It began in 1986 as a hospital based social worker working with children’s physical, emotional and behavioural  issues. In addition to her work with children and their families, Nicola has held contracts providing Specialist Care of Children Reports to the  Family Court (2002-2007), chairing the Napier Care and Protection Resource Panel  (2005-2009), providing Applicant and Respondent domestic violence programmes, family court counselling and mediating family disputes. Her experience in FDR covers every aspect of family life; step family integration, same-sex relationships, how separation affects children, adult grief and readjustment, addiction, care and protection, guardianship issues, relationship property, elder care, child care arrangements and grieving and loss.

Nicola is the Vice President and a Mediation Fellow of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of NZ (AMINZ) and a former Mediation Fellow of Resolution Institute. She sits on the AMINZ Panel of Mediators and is the Inaugural Recipient of the Anne Edge Memorial Award for Excellence in Fellowship Mediation in 2014. She was named by the National Business Review (July 2014) as being in the top 10 family mediators in New Zealand. She was a contract teacher for the Massey University Dispute Resolution Centre and presents both nationally and internationally on various aspects of dispute resolution, mediation skills and workplace conflicts.

She is currently working full time in FDR mediation, executive coaching & workplace support and provides training workshops throughout NZ and internationally on various aspects and topics associated with her work.
