After studying psychology and philosophy at Auckland University, William travelled the world for three years and came back determined to build a meditation centre, so he became a builder and after completing the meditation centre went on building for another 20 years.

William says people started wanting to pay him for advice, so he joined the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors and served on their Executive for many years. In 2016 they made him a life member and gave him their “Excellence in Building Surveying” award in 2018.

About 10 years ago, he restarted formal study and subsequently received a Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution from Massey University. Since then, he has completed Cinnie Noble’s excellent Conflict Management Coaching course as well as a Graduate Certificate in Restorative Justice from Victoria University in Wellington.

William regularly attends short courses and continues to upskill, for example in Elder Mediation. He has been a Family Mediator with Fair Way since 2014. His particular interest is in supporting families to figure things out themselves.
