Yvonne is a registered social worker with over 25 years of experience working alongside children, young people and families across health, education and community settings. Alongside her private practice providing ACC Sensitive Claims therapy and counselling, she is passionate about helping children and young people feel safe, heard and understood. Yvonne brings a calm, compassionate approach and enjoys supporting children to share their views in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to them.
Yvonne believes people are more willing to share their experiences when they feel safe, respected and genuinely listened to. Her approach is warm, trauma-informed and strengths-based, and she works hard to build trust with children, young people and families. She is committed to ensuring every person feels heard and that children's voices are represented in a way that reflects their views and experiences.
Yvonne holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Youth Mental Health and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which complements her social work practice. Raising four children while building a career has given her a deep appreciation for the realities of family life and the importance of balance, resilience and wellbeing. She values maintaining a healthy work–life balance and believes looking after our own wellbeing enables us to be fully present for the people we support.
