Julie is an experienced Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) mediator and qualified counsellor, with a strong background in family counselling, family harm, mental health, and wellbeing. She has extensive experience working alongside individuals, tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau — providing support that strengthens relationships and promotes positive parenting practices.
Julie is also experienced in Voice of the Child work, ensuring the perspectives of tamariki are thoughtfully heard and considered in decision-making processes. She has expertise in pre-mediation coaching, supporting parents to prepare for constructive and meaningful conversations, helping to lay the foundation for successful outcomes.
Julie brings a calm and child-centred approach to mediation. She is skilled at creating a safe and supportive environment where parents and caregivers feel heard and empowered to work towards sustainable agreements. Her work is guided by a deep commitment to the wellbeing of tamariki and whānau, with a strong focus on collaboration, communication, and future-focused solutions.
Julie is employed by Presbyterian Support Upper South Island in the Family Works Community team. Family Works supports whānau to build safer, more resilient, and connected, families/whānau and communities. Services are tailored to meet the needs of each child, young person, parent and whānau, while building on the strengths they already have. Informed by research and evidence, Family Works support people to reach positive solutions.
She also works as an ACC counsellor in private practice.
In her free time Julie enjoys spending time with whanau, practicing yoga and time outdoors in the sunshine.
