Meng is a professional mediator. He has an extensive background in local and central government, as a successful businessperson in horticulture, agriculture, property development, and also experience in Māori land matters, cooperative governance and hospitality, which has given him many insights. He has worked with tangata whenua, diverse communities and in community development. 

Meng is proficient in conducting mediations in te reo Māori, Chinese languages, and English, ensuring effective communication across linguistic and cultural boundaries.

Based in sunny Gisborne, he continues to give back to his community. He loves visiting his grandchildren in the UK, along with cycling, hiking and intrepid holidays with his lovely wife.

Meng has been told that he has patience, a friendly approach, is confidential, has empathy and is professional. He cares for people and facilitates the process of mediation to the best possible outcome for the parties.

Meng has been involved in the horticulture industry for over 40 years both exporting and supplying retail, wholesale and supermarkets. He spent 24 Years as Mayor in Gisborne which gave him a huge insight into the complexities of local government and environs. He led many policy and strategies especially in the area of eliminating discrimination and racism – ‘culture will always eat strategy for breakfast’ – Druker.

He speaks fluent Māori; this has given his community the trust and confidence in him to support their many matters.
