PJ is an arbitrator, adjudicator, and conciliator with over 4 decades of experience. His law career, as a practitioner and legal academic, has been mainly in transactional commercial and property law, with specialist subsets in construction, international trade and business, e-commerce, farming, complicated property and contract work.
Whether as dispute resolver or negotiator, PJ’s focus has always been on achieving results that work immediately and long-term alike. Rendering the complex to be easily understandable is key to PJ’s approach; as one writer put it, “He can see further into a millstone than most”.
As well as being a high-level negotiator and dispute resolver for private clients and as arbitrator, adjudicator, and conciliator, PJ has been called on as a special advisor to the Law Commission and NZ Law Society on a range of subjects in commercial and property law.
PJ has been a main author in two leading legal textbooks, and has contributed to several others. His technical expertise and scholarship provides direct benefits to his dispute resolution work.
