As we come to the end of Māori Language Week it strikes me how much of our Māori tikanga applies to the practice of mediation. A hui is a meeting where people meet to settle differences through discourse. Agreement is reached by consensus and if no agreement can be reached at that particular hui a further hui will be called.

New research into the extent of conflict in New Zealand workplaces has found that within a 12 month period almost one quarter (24%) of employees had experienced at least one disagreement or argument at work that distracted or prevented them from doing their job.

Fair Way Resolution Limited (Fair Way) shareholding Minister, Judith Collins, has announced the appointment of two new directors of the Crown-owned company*. The directors are Mr Daniel Nakhle and Mr Mark Sandelin.

"Fair Way is at a crucial stage of development seeking to broaden its business base for its conflict management services, " says Ms Collins.

"With this wider strategy in mind, the appointment of Mr Nakhle and Mr Sandelin will add significant value to Fair Way's competitive position.

Fair Way Resolution has announced that ex-mayor of Kapiti Coast District Council - Jenny Rowan, has joined the Crown-owned company* as Business Director - Local Government & Environment.
